ACSOL National Action Alert: Retired Military Registrants Denied Access to Military Bases – Were You Also Denied?

Source: ACSOL Two retired military registrants were denied access to military bases during the past seven days.  One of the registrants was denied access to a Marine base while the other was denied access to a Navy base.  The two registrants are retired from two different branches of the military — Air Force and Navy. Live Scan Application Form Available to Registrants

Source: ACSOL Registrants who are uncertain regarding the penal code section of the offense for which they were convicted, the date of their conviction and other related information can obtain that information in a document called a Live Scan Report.  In order to obtain the report, a registrant must submit a completed application and their fingerprints to a store, such as UPS, and pay about $50.  The report is then mailed to the registrant only at the mailing address they provide. “Most people, including registrants, receive a copy of their…

ACSOL Files Lawsuit Challenging Re-Sentencing Regulations

ACSOL has filed a lawsuit challenging regulations issued by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) that categorically exclude inmates required to register from re-sentencing opportunities provided in recent legislation.  The lawsuit was filed on July 6 in Sacramento Superior Court. “The regulations being challenged repeat the same mistake made by CDCR in its regulations implementing Proposition 57,” stated ACSOL Executive Director Janice Bellucci.  “That is, the re-sentencing regulations create a categorical exclusion of all registrants even though the legislation does not.” The individual plaintiff in the case, Antoine…
