OK: Sex offenders removed from registry

TAHLEQUAH — Several convicted sex offenders residing in Cherokee County have been removed from the state’s sex offender registry following a ruling from the Oklahoma Supreme Court last June.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Investigator James Brown has received letters from the state indicating two offenders of the 100-plus living here have been removed from the Department of Corrections registry, so far. Full Article

And people make fun of Okies! Appears to be light years ahead of Kalifornia.

But they ARE taking their sweet time getting people off the registry. The government is doing everything they can to drag out the process, which I assume means delay. This is being done IN VIOLATION of the court order, in my opinion, because the registry inclusion is cut and dried: either you fall under the rule or you don’t. I don’t understand the “case by case basis” other than for date and pre-2007 registry level verification.

If I were one of these registrants, I’d sue to put off these delay tactics, and include monetary compensation from the time of the state Supreme Court ruling until the actual removal date.
