IL: Chicago police fail to register sex offenders 601 times in just three months

On February 13 of this year, ____ ____ went to the Chicago Police Department Headquarters to register as a sex offender. Interesting article. First the Chicago Police actively prevent people from obeying the law. Then later they arrest them for failure to obey the very law the police prevented them from obeying.

In the old days I’d have recommended a lawsuit. But the Supreme Court seems to have no problem with torture at Guantanamo, or with systematic violations of the Fourth Amendment by the NSA; so I don’t know if common sense, to say nothing of sanity, would prevail in such a lawsuit.

In case any registrants have plans of going to Chicago, Illinois requires you to register if you plan on spending three cumulative days in the state within one year. I doubt I’ll go there to visit my relatives anytime soon after reading some of these articles. They’ve taken it to a new level of regulatory measures. Thank goodness it’s not punitive.
