A judge denied on Friday the proposed placement of a sexually violent predator in a Placer County community that for years has been pushing against his release.

William Stephenson has served about half of his 31-year prison sentence for his sexually violent crimes, which included minors. Since 2022, people in Sacramento, Amador and Placer counties have openly objected to him being released in the area.

A news release from the Placer County District Attorney’s Office highlighted “the Alta community’s engagement, noting that the strength of the community were evident in the submissions and testimony presented” before the courtroom. The courtroom was packed to capacity with community members, with more people gathered in the hallway.

The DA’s office also noted that the court received more than eight inches’ worth of documents and opposition materials.

During the evidentiary hearing, a judge ruled that Little Bear Creative Academy is a legitimate school and Stephenson cannot legally be placed nearby. The proposed placement would have had him …

I don’t fully understand what’s going on here. If he is a monster with violent sexual crimes including against minors, how is he set to be released after 15 years? People with cp charges have served that much at times.

I am trying to think objectively as if this were my neighborhood. I guess I would want to know what he did as they are making it all so scary, and I’m sure I would stay away from him if I were scared myself. But I don’t know how living 1/4 mile from a school puts those kids at risk.

A problem entirely created by the registry. The registry tells the public where he lives, so any local politicians in an area he is being moved to are put on the spot and basically have their hands forced. When people convicted of murder and attempted murder are released into communities literally every day, you don’t hear a peep because there is no public notification of where they live. The registry is incompatible with a criminal justice system that has any goal of reintegrating convicts with society.

I wonder what happened to the district attorney’s face? 🤔

” Little Bear, Little Bear what do you see?” I see, ” Hypocrisy staring at me. Half of 32 years and still frightened by myths.” Congrats Conifornia!! Time to meet Janice with a lawsuit for thee.

In other words, the Placer County DA summoned his lynch mob.😁His soul is disfigured just like his face

We don’t have a police department, sheriff’s substation, there’s no roads for him to get to us….some of the residents in the video clip sound like a bunch of scared little children. If they’re that worried, they should just buy a gun 🤗

He has served his time. He is deemed safe by the hospital and has been waiting for housing suitable for him. The crazy laws we have on the books, public notification specifically, needs to be wiped off the books. This man needs to go and live his life.
