Army veteran Paul King struggles to find a place to call home. Shackled with poor health and a sexual-abuse conviction, King has seen his life deteriorate.
Nearly blind and with failing kidneys, the 45-year-old King, who suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure, has been in and out of hospitals over the past eight months. He lives in Peaceful Pines residential-care facility in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The small facility can house 20 residents.
“I feel like I have been left here to die,” he said during a visit with his sister, Carol Christopher of Cape Girardeau. Full Article

This story is really sad…and there’s plenty of blame to go around. From sex offender hysteria that is raging across the country to the point where even veterans that served their country are refused housing that is open to former thieves, robbers & murderers. As long as it wasn’t a sex offense. Plus you have to put some blame on right-wing talk radio that that dominates the airwaves in southeast Missouri. In fact, Rush Limbaugh is from the same town. If this veteran had access to free preventative healthcare, it would have kept his high blood pressure & diabetes under control. But you can thank Missouri’s GOP legislature from blocking medicaid expansion in that state.
Dear Moderator, MS = Mississippi. MO is Missouri. The story headline says MS, Not a big deal.
