[floridaactioncommittee.org – 4/16/21]

Professors Wayne Logan (Florida State University School of Law) and JJ Prescott (University of Michigan School of Law) have edited the textbook on sex offense registration laws, literally. The two professors, along with other professionals; Andrew J. Harris, Scott M. Walfield, Alissa R. Ackerman, Lisa L. Sample, Kelly Socia, Amanda Agan, Jill S. Levenson, and Elizazeth J. Letourneau, have written “Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Laws, An Empirical Evaluation” to serve as an academic textbook on the subject.

I don’t think I need A academic textbook on the subject of registering and the impact Megan’s Law has had on my life iv been registering for 21 years now I’m well aware of my situation.
I was 18 when i took my plea deal back in 2000 so iv been labeled a sex offender/scary monster 👹 all my adult life.
Sometimes i wake up in the morning and think daam how the hell did i make it this far.
Iv had many law enforcement agencies take shots at me over the years in every county iv ever lived in the craziest experience i ever had was when detectives from the “SAFE TASKFORCE” were following me around for weeks.
I found out i was under surveillance when one of the detectives went up to my neighbor as she was washing clothes in the laundry room in are apartment building and showed her a picture of me and asked her if i lived at my registering address her and my wife were friends so she called us right away and said hey there’s a detective walking around asking questions about you guys
When they finally knocked on my door to do a compliance check 7 days later i was waiting for them when i opened the door i was shocked the 2 detectives standing there were the same 2 people we sat next to as we waited to be seated at outback stake house a week before we remembered them because it was a busy night and a very long wait they were the couple behind us.
They asked my wife if i was the children’s father and was she aware of my past and that i was a 290 registrant.
She laughed and said were married and yes theses are our children and as you can see he’s in compliance is there anything else i can help you guys with they said no that’s it you guys have a nice day as they were walking away one of them turned around and said hey you know your license is suspended you might wanna take care of that i laughed and said yeah ok and slammed my door.

Good luck ✌😬

Interesting. I wonder what is the conclusion of their “Empirical Evaluation”. They don’t work, won’t work, are nothing more than public safety theater to appease the proletariat. 🤔

Does it come in large print, simple words, and with colored pictures for legislatures, et al, to read and understand easily enough the ramifications of these draconian laws?

Wow, $110 for the book. I’d have to stop eating for 2 weeks to buy that book. I guess that since it’s distributed by a university, they charge collage bookstore prices. Since we are the book’s target audience, and most of us are just surviving, I guess it won’t make the best sellers list. I’ve never understood the high cost of books at collages. :>(
