Wait a second…OR has people under supervision who are not keeping current on registration? Umm, maybe the POs need a talking to! And as with the MA “lost” RCs…how much did crime spike by not knowing where they were or by not having correct info? I’m guessing zilch.
What I find interesting is he mentioned probation or parole. How many registrants are not? It is punitive.
…And not a single one of them had committed any kind of offense or crime or that would clearly have been stated. They were law abiding citizens just beaten down by the registry and couldn’t take it any more.
First of all, I take no pity on anyone who purposely moves and doesn’t comply with the law. Yes, the law sucks badly. No, that doesn’t mean they should ignore it. This is a quick way to get into trouble because even though we know registration is punitive and certainly has to be unconstitutional in several ways, we need to clear the hurdles to get registration laws thrown out.
Additionally, this was not a “Sting”. This was a militarized show of force by the police i’m sure. There was nothing about a sting operation here.
Someone doesn’t know what a sting is.
